The Shelter Facility

Shelter at Forbes House includes seven individual bedrooms for families, which two small families may need to share if we are at capacity. One of the bedrooms is for a physically challenged person. There is a dorm style bathroom with three individual shower stalls, and two private baths with tubs, one of which is designed for a physically challenged person. A living room, dining room, playroom, and kitchen make up the remainder of the shelter's living area. Residents have access to all living areas at all times, including the kitchen. Food is provided and residents make up the menu once a week. Everyone is responsible for their and their children's own breakfast and lunch, while dinner is a community meal. Any special dietary needs are met. Baby food, baby formula, and diapers are provided to those who need them.

Clothing, toiletries and other necessities are provided to women and children as needed. Our laundry consists of  two washers and dryers.

Phones are available to the residents without charge for local calls. Long distance calls may only be made with the assistance of a staff person.

Over the counter medication is available and prescription medications are purchased by the shelter if no other means to purchase a prescription is available.
